On September 21 "La Civiltà Cattolica" published an interview, which Pope Francis granted to it and to some other magazines of the Society of Jesus.
The interview received a global echo, reported by various international media outlets.
The contents of this interview with the director of the Jesuit magazine, Antonio Spadaro, are broad: ranging from his personal history, to his pastoral and government experience, to his vision of the Church, able to "heal the wounds" and "warm the hearts," Pope Francis describes himself from A to Z.
The whole interview, however, has a special feature, which is by now familiar: Pope Francis keeps a watchful eye on the so-called existential outskirts, on humanity, that suffers and that should always receive the privileged attention of all the Christians.
Even when he talks about himself, even when he tells something of his most intimate life, Pope Francis is never self-referential, but he helps the reader to become aware that the world is to be loved and therefore, cared for and supported, and he urges everyone to work aiming at the frontiers of humanity, to make it a laboratory of hope.
